President and Chief Executive Officer
Mickey Lavender, chief executive officer, president and founder of LWSI, grew up in Little Rock, Arkansas. He earned his bachelors of Science degree in Biology and Chemistry from University of Arkansas Little Rock.
In 1968, Mickey began his entrepreneurial journey, when he purchased a local Pharmacy. Early on Mickey realized a need to automate the manual bookkeeping, inventory and financial reporting requirements thus creating his first technology solution. Several years later Mickey was asked by a friend that happened to be an Executive Director of a local Behavioral Health agency, if he could help him automate his billing and financial departments. Now in its 35th year, LWSI is still listening to our partners and providing them technology solutions to drive efficiencies in their agencies.
As CEO, Mickey has spearheaded more than three decades of LWSI’s growth. Widely respected for his vision and collaborative approach, Mickey has the unique ability to articulate how information technology can add value for behavioral health agencies, providers and their communities by reducing healthcare costs, increasing efficiencies and enabling improvements in healthcare quality and safety.
LWSI associates extol Mickey for his genuine, approachable and caring spirit. It was Mickey’s clear vision and entrepreneurial instincts that led him to develop LWSI’s person-centric information architecture, Essentia®.
Outside of healthcare, Mickey serves on several charitable boards and is an active charter member of Musanze Inc. an Opportunity Center in Musanze, Rwanda.
